Osmoflo’s shareholder and parent company, Hitachi Zosen Corporation of Japan, officially entered a new era, changing its name to Kanadevia Corporation, with a strong focus on future sustainability, the circular economy and the role the organisation can play in enhancing the co-existence of humanity and the environment.
Since its foundation in 1881 as Osaka Iron Works, the Japanese based company has expanded its business to include shipbuilding, steel structures, plants, and industrial machinery. In 1943, the trade name of the company was changed to Hitachi Zosen Corporation (HITZ) and today, the global business and its subsidiaries are rapidly expanding in the fields of decarbonization, resource recycling, water and wastewater treatment, and safe and prosperous urban development. In 2018, Osmoflo became a wholly owned subsidiary of HITZ.
The trade name change to Kanadevia Group is a strategic decision to highlight the intent in forging a new direction as a corporate group by “taking on the challenge, through the power of technology, to create a world that lives in balance with nature”.
“Kanadevia” is a coined word. It combines “kanade” (from the Japanese verb “kanaderu” meaning “to play music in harmony”) and "via" (Latin for “way” or “method”). The name reflects the history, corporate philosophy and brand concept of our group since its establishment, and it carries the meaning of opening up new pathways that bring harmony to humanity and nature, just as an orchestra plays in harmony, through respect for diversity and tireless technological innovation.
Osmoflo’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Carmine Ciccocioppo, commented that, “Osmoflo is excited to be part of this new era in our parent company’s journey, and is very much looking forward to playing an integral part in its global water division. Osmoflo’s mission of 'providing innovative, sustainable and value-based water solutions that contribute to a circular economy' is completely aligned with the broader objectives and long-term aspirations of Kanadevia Group”.
Osmoflo’s Chairman, Takayuki Inoue, also added, “I'm proud to share how our work not only contributes to Kanadevia's growth but also aligns with our shared mission of creating value for society through innovative technology and unwavering integrity. Our expertise in water treatment—from seawater desalination to mine water management—not only addresses critical resource challenges but also supports a sustainable and circular economy.”
“At Osmoflo, we understand the vital role clean water plays in advancing societal prosperity, and we are dedicated to making significant contributions in this area. By leveraging Kanadevia's extensive industrial capabilities and commitment to sustainable solutions, we are well-positioned to meet the pressing environmental needs of our time. Together, we are working towards a future where our efforts positively impact both our clients and the broader community, laying the groundwork for a prosperous and resilient future.”
