Westen Australia based Mining Company
Ultrafiltration, Seawater Reverse Osmosis, PlantConnect and O&M
Kalgoorlie Region, Western Australia
Challenge Our client, who operate a lithium mine near Kalgoorlie in Western Australia, had been experiencing difficulties with their existing 2.2 MLD seawater reverse osmosis plant. This in turn was impacting on their processing targets.
Solution Osmoflo provided a 3 MLD seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant, plus technical group and process engineering support to assess the feed water and improve availability and utilisation of their existing 2.2 MLD plant. The 3 MLD plant was readily available from Osmoflo’s rental fleet, with some slight adaptions to meet specific conditions at the mine site.
The rental solution was provided in 8 x 40 foot containers and 1 x 20 foot container. This containerised system was designed to “plug and play”, allowing for faster set up and reduced down time on site.
Process and equipment solution was based on 300um automated strainers (10 MLD), sediment dam with silt curtain followed by 100um filtration, ultrafiltration (7.2 MLD), 5um cartridge filtration and finally sea water desalination (3 MLD).
Result Osmoflo was able to assemble the plant within a few days and following a 3,000km journey by road, the plant was then delivered to site within 3 days of dispatch. Osmoflo mobilised to site to assist the client with plant installation and commissioning which occurred in less than 30 days. The Client then engaged Osmoflo to provide O&M services on the 3MLD plant, as well as their existing 2.2MLD plant. Close liaison between the client and Osmoflo safeguarded the rapid supply of the water treatment plant and ensured the client’s emergency water requirements were met.
The rental solution offered a cost effective option to supply water as an interim measure to help the client meet their production and export targets.
