Challenge Osmoflo has provided ten plants for this giant project totaling over 14MLD of water capacity.  Drawing from the ocean these plants provide process water for construction needs and potable water for construction crews.  In addition to Design and Construct contract arrangements, a plant was supplied at short notice under a rental agreement to overcome a shortfall in construction needs. Systems for the accommodation villages produced potable water compliant to the Australian Drinking Water and World Health Organisation standards.

Solution Compliance with demanding oil and gas specification and strict water quality with respect to chlorides for construction were demanding however from time to time, changing project demands required some new plant to be delivered in timeframes of weeks. Osmoflo was awarded contractor of the month for managing the delivery and installation of one part of this project on time to a seemingly impossible deadline.

Osmoflo provided over 14MLD of sea water desalination to Wheatstone to meet the varying water demands at each stage of the project.  These stages included construction camp set up, water for construction and compaction as well as water treatment to provide process and potable water for the permanent plant.

Osmoflo provided operation and maintenance services throughout the project with the level of involvement and support varying to meet the clients need at each stage. These ranged from providing O&M labour, to training of the clients staff in preparation of hand over of operations to the client and into technical oversight and support which continues to this day.

Result  The desalination plants were completed  prior to the very lean deadline provided by Bechtel, providing a potable water source for the large scale project.
